ICOM S.p.a. is an Italian manufacturer of LPG conversions for automobiles. Its main conversion product is the JTG - Common Rail liquid LPG injection system. In addition, ICOM manufactures tanks, valves, fill valves, and flexible pipes. JTG - Common RailICOM manufactures complete LPG kits for a variety of engine sizes and configurations. The kits consist of the following main components:
The JTG system ties into the vehicle's OEM engine management ECU to make use of the vehicle's existing sensors and controls. The JTG ECU intercepts the OEM's signals to the gasoline injectors and converts them to signals for controlling the LPG injectors. The OEM ECU "thinks" it is still running on gasoline and relies on its feedback sensors (O2 sensors, etc) to fine-tune the fuel mixture. The JTG system does not modify the engine's advance curve. However, because of LPG's high octane rating (104 for HD-5 motor fuel), the OEM ECU allows the ignition advance to reach the maximum values preprogrammed by the vehicle's manufacturer. While certified for use in Europe, the JTG system does not have EPA approval of its entire product line for use in the USA or Canada and is generally restricted to off-road use in these countries. However, ICOM has worked closely with CFUSA of Texas in developing a customized monofuel/dedicated system for the GM 8.1L engine, which is EPA and CARB certified by CFUSA and is marketed under the CFUSA LPI System. Emissions, power, and drivability are excellent. In addition, while ICOM's fuel tanks are certified for use in Europe, ICOM's factory has ASME approval and certain fuel tanks destined for the North American market also have ASME certification. ICOM is in the process of having their other fuel tanks ASME certified as well. The JTG - Common Rail system is available in the following configurations.
ICOM North America is in the process of creating a new website which should be on-line by the end of October. Until then, you may contact ICOM NA by phone at:
